Trek begins at: Old Manali, Himachal Pradesh, India but could also start at Solang Nallah

Trekkers usually travel to Delhi by Air or Train, then take Volvo bus to Manali.

Important Information for Patalsu Peak Trek
Number of days: 3 or 4 but could also be done faster depending on fitness level of the trekker.
The trek can be done in 3 days, if the first day trek to Solang Nullah is skipped and instead you drive down to Solang Nullah.
Unless you are an experienced high altitude trekker, you should stick to the itinerary provided by a local guide. Here is another blog which outlines how quickly the weather changes and how steep the trek is.

Trekking path: Steep uphills, Green meadows and snow at the summit.

Weather conditions: The trek can be done through the year, though in the winter months of January to March, the local guides are the best judge of the weather conditions to determine if the trek can be done or not.

Support needed: You would have to carry your camping equipments like tents, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, food and stove. If you are an experienced trekker and have done self supported treks you could do this trek on your own.
A local guide can help organize the trek. Based on your needs, a local guide can organize everything needed for the trek or can just play the role of a guide.

A generic itinerary for Patalsu Peak trek

Day 1: Trek from Manali to Solang Nallah  (4-5 hours trek)
From Old Manali, walk besides the Beas river to cross the villages of Shanag, Burwa and Solang. Then there will be a river crossing to reach the camping spot for the night.  

Day 2: Trek from Solang Nallah to Shagadugh (4-5 hours trek)
Walk through Pine and Oak forests to would reach the alpine meadows of Shagadugh. 

Day 3: Trek from Shagadugh to Patalsu Peak to Shagadugh (4200 m) (6-7 hours)
You can see the Shitidhar, Friendship and Manali peaks from the summit.

Day 4: Trek from Shagadugh to Solang Nallah and drive to Manali
