How to reach Munsiyari
Nearest Airport  to Munsiyari :   Dehradun Airport, Uttarakhand

Trekkers usually travel to Delhi by Air, then take train to Kathgodam and a taxi from Kathgodam to Munsiyari.
There are also Volvo buses to Kathgodam from Delhi, starting from Anand Vihar Delhi.

Chipla Kedar Trek
This is a pilgrimage trek in Kumaon Himalayas, near the India, Tibet & Nepal border. The trek reaches an altitude of 5200 meters above sea level.
We get beautiful scenic views of high altitude meadows on the trek. The mountains the trek passes through is full of wild life and precious herbs. These mountains have animals and birds like the Musk deer, Thar, Bharal (Blue Sheep), Snow leopard, Wild Goat, Yellow Throated Marten, Pika, Monal (Himalayan peasant ), Khaleej peasant , Western Tragopan, Griffon, Spotted Dove, Rock pigeon and many more. There are many medicinal plants in these mountains. Every third year people from the local area come here for pilgrimage, they have a ceremony near the lake during which they shave off their heads. The Lake here freezes completely during the night at the time of the festival. From Najarikot you can see the high mountains, even the mountains in Nepal Himalayas. There are amazing sights of nature with stream, waterfalls, dense forest etc.

A generic itinerary for Chipla Kedar trek

Day 1: Arrive Munsyari

Day 2: Munsyari - Baram Village (950 meters / 50 km / 3 hrs) – Morning before we drive to Baram, we can go for a local sight seeing tour in Munsyari. We could visit the tribal heritage museum,  Nanda devi temple and the Durga devi temple which is at Darkot. Enroute to Baram village we can see the hot springs at Madkot. 

Day 3: Baram Village – Kanar Village (2200 meters /14 km /6 hrs)  Kanar village is known to be the home of goddess Ulka devi, who is worshiped every year in the months of December and January.

Day 4: Kanar village – Bheman camp site – (3500 meters / 10 km /4-5 hrs) It will be a steep uphill trek though filled with scenic beauty of the hills. The beauty around will not make you feel tired. The trek will pass through some thick forests and could possibly see some wild life.

Day  5: Bheman camp – Cherthi camp – (4750 meters  /10 km /4-5 hrs) The trek till Cherthi will be an uphill walk. This is will be the base camp as it is not allowed to camp further up in the hills near the lake.

Day 6: Cherthi camp – Najarkot Top(5200 meters) - The highest point of the trek is Najarikot, Najarkot has magnificent views of the Panchachuli peaks, Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot,  Api peak(Nepal) and many others.

Day 7: Cherthi camp – The entire day you could spend exploring the Holy kunds (lakes) and meadows.

Day 8: Cherthi camp – Kanar village  (2200 meters / 20 km / 6-7 hrs) -  Return back the same way you arrived.

Day 9: Kanar Village – Baram (950 meters / 14 km / 4-5 hrs.) - It will be an easy day, trekking down hill to reach Baram village, you could take bath in the crystal clear stream.

The next morning you could leave back for your destination.
